Temporary Residence is a permit granted by the National Migration Service of Chile to foreigners who intend to settle in Chile for a limited period of time, which will be valid for up to 2 years.

Temporary Resident Visa from Abroad
This permit may be requested by foreigners who wish to settle in the country for a limited period of time, in order to develop lawful remunerated activities under a subordinate or dependent relationship with an employer who has a domicile or branch in Chile. This permit is valid for up to two years.
This category also includes the holder's dependents.

Extension of the Residency / Visa of the holder and his/her dependents for up to 2 more years.

Permanent Residence
The Permanent Residence is the permit granted by the National Immigration Service to foreigners who have a valid Temporary Residence, to reside indefinitely and develop any lawful activity in the country.
The holders of Temporary Residence may apply for Permanent Residence only in those cases in which the migratory subcategory of which they are holders so admits.
